The site is coming along nicely and is receiving rave reviews from it's visitors. Thank you all so far for your comments. We realise that we need to get some images on here and give the site a dynamic look and feel. This is being addressed and we hope to update it soon with some bespoke new imagery. At the foot of each page there are URstart contact details. To contact URstart using Skype, you first have to be accepted by the team and also have skype installed on your computer. Please continue to feedback.   Thank you. Tony

All may seem quiet

All may seem quiet

Believe me, this is the calm before the storm. The business plan is at 70% and meetings are taking place left right and centre. Some funding has been raised and more is in the process of being secured. There's plenty going on behind the scenes here at UR Start HQ. Meet the team:

Please take a moment to answer this question.

Take a look around. Do you share my views on current affairs?

In short, the government is cutting back on everything at the moment in the name of the recession. The rich continue to get richer, it’s the same old story. Well, I don’t think it’s right!

To get out of recession, we have to pull together so I’m trying to gather like-minded individuals to produce a collective, louder voice. The gaps in social support are in need of filling by regenerating areas and re-energising the people in them to help communities work again.

 The concept

My name is Mike Kerr from URstart. Our aim is to develop a new business plan over the next two months. This new social enterprise will be a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Warrington. We plan to operate in council estates and assist in the internal and external redevelopment and regeneration of the current social housing stock (One goal is to work in conjunction with Golden Gates Housing Trust).

We will carry out home repairs, redecoration and landscaping jobs which have either been backlogged with the council or commissioned direct via our office.

The team will be made up of a centralised office which will control and direct our flexible workforce. The workforce will be made up of experienced and fully-qualified masters in their trades, accompanied by volunteer apprentices who are training at college and require on-the-job experience to master their selected skills. All employees will be CRB checked.
